The project’s objective is to revitalize the Tabasqueño Delta, with emphasis in touristic development, the efficient use of water and urban planning. The end result is a strategic vision of the holistic development for the Chontalpa region for approximately 6000.000 inhabitants.
This vision offers a series of projects to promote economy, improve quality of life and mitigate floods. We analyzed the complex hydrological system, economic possibilities and the unique characteristics of the Tabasqueño Delta. We took visual walkthroughs in the area, and we organized different design workshops with local and governmental organizations. This knowledge allowed us to define initial projects that generated a great impact: a recreational and tourist nautical center area, the restoration of the Camellones Chontales, the Alternative Gastronomic Route, where there will be a group of various restaurants, with an organized infrastructure that will ease their activities, the rescue of the Zapote river, among others-seeking to improve the economy in the area, from a sustainable point of view.
The importance of Delta Vivo resides in its strategic and inclusive character. We consolidated a shared vision for different participants that besides the defined projects, generates space for local, private and municipal businesses. The importance of the hydrological system of Tabasco should be considered for all projects and initiatives, here within resides the key. Long-term water management is essential to have a correct balance between the economy and the space for water.
