BD+P delivered a research and proposals for Batumi (Georgia). The challenge was to identify strategies and physical locations with transformation opportunities for resilience.
Together with the municipality we defined two priority projects: the “Green Boulevard”, a new urban ecosystem that links the mountains with the Black sea, incorporating new mobility, climate adaptation measures and an iconic pedestrian bridge over the existing lake. The second project is a new “Creative and Leisure District” attached to a new coastal park designed by “Building with Nature”, near the port. The scope includes conceptual designs for bankable, integrated, holistic, inclusive projects, endorsed by all stakeholders and potentially interesting for the international (development) financiers. It furthermore aims to provide governance, policy, and planning recommendations and therefore include a capacity building element as well.
